I’ve been doing a lot of late nights these days.  Not sure if I’m trying to pump myself up for sleepless baby nights or what but less sleep has been my mantra as of late.  Something about the quiet of the house when you’re the only one awake is sacred in a way, like you are experiencing time that no one else is a part of.  In these wee hours time opens up and slows down.  Thinking takes on a new meaning and my hand craves a brush, pen, marker or whatever will facilitate meditation on paper. {In these late […]

I heard somewhere the best way to combat the winter blues is to eat fruit and look at fresh flowers.  Well, I certainly have the fresh flower piece covered.  After a dreamy Spring and Summer season filled with cut blooms from my garden everywhere I looked, I was determined to stay inspired through the cold Winter months.  I’ve made friends with my local florist, ordered bouquets for myself when I know select varieties are in stock and most recently attended the Philadelphia Flower Show, coming home with over 6 dozen blooms to play with.  Needless to say, our home has […]

Part I of Elizabeth and Isaac’s wedding focused on the glorious location and fickle weather that led to some gorgeous lighting for their day.  Today’s post is all about the painted paper goodies we created and the flowers…of course!  Elizabeth is no doubt a flower type of girl and our classic Big Bloom peony caught her eye from day one.  Making an appearance first on the invitation, the peony was painted again and again on each table number. I figured we could all use a dose of spring right about now.  Elizabeth and Isaac’s wedding under the live oaks seemed the perfect fit.  I worked with Elizabeth and her Mom for several months to create various stationery elements for the day.  When Elizabeth’s photographer sent over the images I was immediately enchanted with all the dreaminess.  From the bride riding horseback into the ceremony to the swaying live oaks and simple blooms throughout, one could get lost in the beauty.  Not overdone or in your face, the details in this wedding were carefully chosen to suggest simplicity in […]

Our paper palette has been quite varied this week.  Some of our favorites….. Samantha’s orchid and peony bouquet has inspired so many couples lately with its contrast painting (light against dark) technique and richly patterned paisley papers. Abby’s bouquet of peach hydrangeas, fluffy pink roses plus greens and branches epitomizes summer and makes me wish it were here!  The blush cabbage rose pattern with its lovely texture has quickly become a favorite, especially paired with soft lilac! Kristin’s adventurous collection includes sailboats, a compass and a low country shrimp boil.  We adore the contrast painted pot against persimmon paper.  Wow! […]
