Handmade custom invitations & stationery
by Kristy Rice

I had the opportunity to hear Darcy Miller, Editorial Director of Martha Stewart Weddings speak at Engage09 last week.   I was excited to learn that Darcy is a sought after illustrator and her book “Our Wedding Scrapbook” is filled with her original artwork!  Here is a little excerpt:

“From America’s leading authority on weddings comes this beautifully illustrated scrapbook-a unique resource that makes it easy to create a personalized keepsake of the special moments, celebrations, and memories of their lives together.  From first-date jitters to the engagement, from the wedding day through the honeymoon and anniversaries, the scrapbook helps a bride capture the defining moments of her wedding in personalized, creative ways.”

So I am thrilled to announce I am giving away one copy of this lovely scrapbook to a RiceInk reader!

So how do you enter?: Please leave a comment below describing how you plan to remember the special moments of your wedding planning process.  Scrapbooking,  a blog, photo journal?

Contest ends Tuesday July 7th at 12:00 am.  The winner will be selected at random and notified via email.

Although I have already tied the knot, it is so important to make sure that you do plenty of things to remember your wedding day, because as we all know, it comes and goes so quickly. Wedding websites, blogs, scrapbooks, photo albums, shadow boxes of wedding relics; there are just so many fun ways to create keepsakes from your wedding!

  2. Future Mrs.

I plan to make use of every tool possible to remember my special day. I love to blog, so I plan to blog up until the very day, and along with the blog, I am a freelance photographer, so we will capture many candid moments that I will then put into a scrapbook. I love internet resources as well, so we even considered online photobooks and using Twitter as a means for a different kind of guestbook.

  3. Sebrina S.

I’m trying to immortalize each step in my planning process on my wedding blog. And I am an avid scrapbook, I I’ve been picking up and saving odds and ends for creating one post-wedding.

  4. Mary

I’m currently keeping a big notebook of all the wedding planning but this would be the perfect way to catch those milestones before the big day and right up through the honeymoon!

  5. Sharlbeav

What a great album! We are setting up our own photobooth so we can have fun pictures to remember all the guests who came to share our special day. The photos will be taken during the cocktail hour, printed during dinner, then a scapbooking station will be available to guests to make it all very personal. Thank you for the generous giveaway!

  6. Mary Williams

I’m already blogging about the process and taking lots of pictures, but i’d love this scrapbook as well. I’ve seen it before and think it’s full of great ideas.

  7. laura

Honestly, I have been struggling with how I’ll remember the wedding planning process! I’ve been collecting things here and there (copies of wedding tasting menu, etc) that I want to keep but I have no idea how to put it all together!

  8. Autumn Buys

I received my first bridal magazine for my 6th birthday. With its crisp, shiny paper and ruffle frenzied images I was hooked. Since then I have consumed every bridal magazine and book I could get my hands on. I currently work as a bridal consultant and contributor to my state’s bridal magazine. Until I find the love of my life, weddings take that place in my heart. I love the creativity, personality and pure giddiness of every different bride and wedding. When I get married, I plan on saving money by creating a movie from assembled pictures and favorites songs on my mac, rather than hiring a videographer. I will include pictures of our courtship, engagement, and that fateful day. I will include songs such as Come What May, At Last, and Nat King Cole’s Love–naturally. I can’t wait! Until then, I would love to learn more about Ms. Darcy Miller’s beautiful wedding. Her custom made Vera Wang dress was enough to whet my palette:) Thanks for this opportunity!

  9. Courtney M.

I definitely plan on scrapbooking for like a year after the wedding (after our engagement I have been collecting wedding items for just that reason). I also run a blog and plan on having a spectacular photographer who will give us rights to all of the photos of our day!

  10. Ashley

I plan to make a scrapbook to preserve our memories. I’ll probably also make a coffee table book.

  11. Shannon

I started a blog starting as soon as I was engaged and I plan to print out every post after we’re married and put it together into a little book as a keepsake so we can remember this time in our lives.

  12. Ashley

I love to scrapbook and I have been gathering things throughout my wedding planning period that will go into my scrapbook. I’ve actually started working on a couple of things that will go into my scrapbook because I know I will have limited time later on. I also ordered a photo guestbook of pictures from the actual proposal and our engagement pictures we took on the campus of our university. It will be perfect to look back on because it sums up the past 4 years- our relationship and our time at college!

  13. Felicity

I’ve been blogging and taking photos of all of our projects. I’m looking forward to building a scrapbook after the wedding when I go into project withdrawal!

  14. Shannon Adams

I want to make sure that I remember everything about my wedding day. Every little detail put into the wedding is going to have some kind of special meaning behind it and I want to remember it all. I am an avid scrapbooker and have already begun scrapbooking the journey; I also love photos, I have photos from the moment we got engaged and have been keeping and collecting little things to help me remember each moment…including the menu from the resturant our friends took us right after the proposal; I’ll do this throughout the entire engagement and wedding. I want to be able to sit down with my children someday and walk them through the night like it just happened yesterday, as though they were with us when it all happened too. It’s such an exciting time for myself and my fiance and since it’s something you only experince once in a lifetime I want to remember everything! 🙂

  15. Leigh

I’m a photo fanatic so I’ve been taking pictures of the entire process. Every venue we’ve visited, our diy invitation process, things that I thought I might use, knottie meetups. Everything. It will be nice to put the photos into a scrapbook afterwards.

  16. Gretchen P

I will be blogging about the planning process, taking pictures of the events, and scrapbooking it all with the help of my little sister who’s also my maid of honor since she’s a much better scrapbooker than i am. I’m also hoping to have one of the ushers take a video of our ceremony so that we can watch it after the fact without having to pay for a videographer because they’re expensive! Overall, i know that i will remember it all!!!

  17. A.Mountain.Bride

I am a new bridal blogger! It’s such a wonderful way for me to collect all those tidbits of information and inspiration along the way. I’m pretty addicted. I love that I can announce “big” things…like “we booked our photographer!” and “oh, I adore this lovely cake!” because in real life, people don’t seem to care…haha…but in the blogosphere everybody is so into it!

My fiance had the idea of printing pages from my blog and have them bound into a book, so I would have a permanent record of our planning adventure (great idea, right!?). Plus, I’m a big scrapper…haven’t had a lot of time to pull those pages together however, so a beautiful scrapbook would really help me get on the ball with that!

  18. Cookie

Photos, lots and lots of photos, and definitely some scrapbooks and albums to display them. I don’t know if I will start a blog, but I forsee some sort of website being developed as well so that all the photos can be shared with all of those whom we were able to share the day with.

  19. Kristen

I will be photographing the story from beginning to end in black and white and keeping a written journal. I would like to incorporate them in your awesome scrapbook!

  20. Katie

Since becoming engaged I have been a little obsessive about keeping every little thing and taking pictures of everything! I even took a picture with my phone of the first wedding magazine that I purchased. It was a huge deal for me. I have also kept all of the celebratory bottle of champagne and wine that we had while celebrating with family and friends. Eventually, I would like to have them melted down to make glass coasters for our new home. I have also been keeping a personal journal of all of my thoughts and feelings as well as using it as a documentary tool. I have been waiting for this moment for a long time and I want to make sure I don’t rush anything and savor every moment and detail!
    Happy Planning ladies!

  21. Lara

My fiance and I are getting married and honeymooning in September of this year. Currently, we’re keeping a large binder full of all our magazine pages, lists, photos, contracts, blog entries, and various other scraps of paper from a marvelous year long planning adventure. I’m sure our piles of stuff will just continue to grow. We’ve agreed to try our best to not let our memories collect dust in an old box. Our plan has always been to transfer all of the keepsakes to a scrapbook. Darcy’s book is just perfect! The little bird on the front ties into our lovebird wedding theme. Just a lovely keepsake.

  22. Rachel

I’ve been making a computerized scrapbook on my computer. I’ve also started a blog that touches on my wedding process!

  23. Kristie

I have been saving everything and want to do a scrapbook like the one Darcy did for her wedding.

  24. Rosie

I am trying really hard to document every moment of this exciting planning process. I never leave anywhere without my camera. I’m planning to scrapbook after the wedding.

  25. Nicole

I love scrapbooking, it’s one of my major stress relievers! I’ve decided that I was going to capture every part of this wedding planning process as best as I can. I’m definitely going to crop the entire thing, but I’m going to try my luck at creating a blog too. With so many people on line these days it’s a great way to keep them in the loop!

  26. Chic 'n Cheap

All of the above! I plan on maintaining my blog, creating a scrapbook, and creating a photo/video corner at the wedding to capture all the fun and silly moments!

  27. Stephanie

I love photography and am a budding photographer myself so photographs and memory hold a strong bond in my mind. I am new to blogging and I’m enjoying it so far, but I love the sensation a photograph can elicit. Putting together and then revisiting your scrapbook is an amazing thing.

  28. Jen

We are having our photographer’s husband make us a wedding music video of the whole day! In addition, we’ll be scrapbooking the entire event!

  29. Katie

I started a blog to help us remember our trip down the aisle. We have a year and three months to go, and I wanted to chronicle the entire journey. I’d also like to use our photographs to make a bound wedding album when all is said and done. As a photographer, I know I will photograph the whole thing.

  30. Kate K.

I’m guest blogging about wedding planning for my friend’s lifestyle blog. Also, my fiance is a photographer, so he’s been taking pictures of all the special parts of wedding planning (and the boring parts too). I’m keeping a folder where I put details–photos, tag from my dress, notes and cards from friends and family–and I can’t wait to include them in our scrapbook. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  31. carrieitly

Our wedding’s just passed and photographs will definately be the dominate way we’ll reflect on what an amazing day our wedding day and entire engagement journey were.

However, I’m very detail oriented and would love another way to record some of the smaller (but lovely and important)… what perfume I wore, what filling was in the cake, the song list and menus for our RD and wedding. Darcy’s scrapbook seems like the perfect tool to get me started. Thanks for the opportunity!

  32. Nicole-Lynn

I think the engagement is such a special time. I plan to document it by scrapbook, saving recepits, pictures, funny memories, etc.

  33. fairuz

i’ve been a mrs for 10 years last june although it felt just like yesterday. blogs were yet to be in existence at that time so planning and organizing wedding details were all compiled in a file folder. it would be lovely to go through all the wedding pictures and mementos all over again and reminisce the beautiful day. thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

  34. Omega Wifey

I plan to blog and create a photo collage. I want to be able to have pictures from every aspect of the wedding and DIYing process. I cant wait to see how everything will turn out! I have no real pre convieved notion of what a wedding should look or feel like all I know is what I want and what I want is to love my wedding day more than I have any other day!

  35. Stephanie Mutter

I am currently blogging about the wedding planning process and have a wedding website for our guests to visit to stay informed. After the big day, I plan on using photo strips from the photo booth and wish cards from our guests to create a scrapbook filled with laughter and joy. I am also having guests upload their digital photos to a photo sharing website for everyone to enjoy. I plan to use some of their photos as well as our professional photos to add to the memories in our scrapbook. Thanks so much!

  36. Miso

I got married last weekend 🙂
I blogged about my multi country wedding
and def will create some type of bound album afterwards to merge
both sets of pictures from both weddings.

  37. Tiffany

I am already married, but I’ve been looking for a way (and time) to put all of my stuff together in a scrapbook. I’ve seen Darcy’s own scrapbook and I’d love her published book, if only to give me some guidance on how to put this together.

  38. Meghan M

I have been blogging and taken pictures of everything I have diy’ed. After the big day, I plan to create my own digital photobook of my favorite pics that friends and family take.

  39. Chelsea

My wedding is in January and I can’t wait! Everyone says it goes by in a flash so I plan on preserving the memories for me and my future husband as well as our future children and grandchildren to enjoy in a scrapbook. I love doing crafty projects and I’m glad my wedding projects won’t end with the centerpieces and bouquets and invitations…I’ll have a scrapbook to work on next!

  40. Melissa

My wedding is in October and I plan to make a scrapbook for all the fun prewedding events, showers, bachlorette party, etc. and another one for the actual wedding. I’d also like to do an online photo album for our friends and family to enjoy.

My fiance and I are big journalers. We have individual journals, journals to each other, journals we write together, travel journals, etc…Over the past nearly 6 years we’ve been together, I love to sit down and read our thoughts and messages to each other from different stages of our relationship. I just found a letter I wrote to him in a journal only a month after we met (we were instantly in love) and decided the words were perfect wedding vows! I’d like to be able to do the same thing with wedding planning. Planning can be stressful, but it’s very humbling to stop and remember what all these actions and ribbons and pieces of cardstock mean…It would be wonderful to have a more creative way to capture all these emotions and memories.

  43. Aaliyah

I love the idea of scrapbooking. This is right up my alley:)
