For our Painterly Prose post today, we have an example from Dionne Christiansen (@nibandpixel). This bold, flowing style works great for a watercolor fill effect, and just a simple wash to finish it off. It would be a great choice for one of our watercolor wedding invitations!


For our  Painterly Prose calligraphy feature this morning, we have the talented Elizabeth Hardin again! This quote from Matisse hardly needs any further explanation, only some big blooms to go with it! 


It’s always good to challenge ourselves, even though it can be the hardest thing in the world to try something new, knowing that it could fail. With Arney Walker’s Painterly Prose calligraphy, we are reminded that taking the plunge can be the most rewarding way to learn. 

Christy emailed me early this year and was just loving my simple bride and groom illustration. She requested a personal twist however – the addition of her beloved Golden Retriever Ginger. Thus Christy and Ted’s very personal invitation design was born! We created a simply elegant gatefold design with a focus on materials and artwork. I especially love the linen ribbon in the perfect shade of green and the sheer shimmer hand-painted accents on the illustration that catch the light beautifully.
