Handmade custom invitations & stationery
by Kristy Rice

In college I was given an assignment to create a sculpture that mimicked a naturally occurring item using unconventional materials. Being drawn to flowers since a small child digging in my Dad’s garden I immediately thought of roses. My frugal side led me to a box of scrap papers I had collected over the years. I began twisting and pinching, painting and pruning the strips of paper to form elegant little paper blooms. I have a vase of these creations on display in the studio and nearly everyday brides comment on their mysterious, edgy and elegant look. Last week I was inspired by several Vera Wang gowns and decided to create a paper bloom invite as a nod to this iconic designer. Last weeks creation inspired a full collection that I would like to introduce to you!

I found the name of the collection, “Sculpted Blooms” to be fitting since each of these flowers is entirely crafted by hand, lovingly painted and embellished with our favorite gems.

Hope you enjoy and I would love to hear what you think!

These are lovely! I don’t know which I prefer … the Pearl Bloom or the Shimmer Bloom. They really do make a spectacular invitation – particularly because I’m sure they need to be mailed in a box to protect the precious blooms. Each invitation is a little “gift.” Thanks for sharing!
