Although fall is just around the corner, we wanted to share a lovely spring wedding, which took place with Washington DC as the backdrop. Since both the bride and groom are in the armed forces, there was a definite military flair to the ceremony. For our Painterly Prose post today, we have an example from Dionne Christiansen (@nibandpixel). This bold, flowing style works great for a watercolor fill effect, and just a simple wash to finish it off. It would be a great choice for one of our watercolor wedding invitations!
It might be hard to find an invite with more customized illustration than these watercolor wedding invitations…. We were able to paint the bride’s venue for her, a beautiful country farmhouse, with the barn on the wrap. The rehearsal dinner card featured a simple ocean scene to set the mood for a seaside dinner, and a personalized timeline shows the bride and groom’s story, and wedding events. The set even included a special watercolor Southwest landscape art piece (from the couple’s travels) on the back of the timeline, as a keepsake gift for the guests.
