I FOUND I COULD SAY THINGS WITH COLOR AND SHAPES THAT I COULDN’T SAY ANY OTHER WAY – THINGS I HAD NO WORDS FOR.

The Hand Painted Moment

Carefully placed brushstrokes hold in them a raging river of emotion; the unspeakable kind of feeling that sends a shiver down your neck when you gaze at a sunset or warms your cheeks when you receive a long awaited embrace…

At the heart of a Momental Design is a collection of painting techniques we bring to you…a collection meant to inspire your Hand Painted Moment.

And so let’s begin.

Contrast Shimmer Painted

Our contrast technique is the beginning here, with finishing brushstrokes over top in shimmering inks.

Contrast Painting

We describe the Contrast technique like this…imagine thick, opaque inks applied heavily onto darker color stocks like gold, champagne or ever deep emerald. The artwork simply pops off the page with contrast and texture!

Gilding

As the name implies, the Gilded hand painting technique involves the application of heavy gold detailing throughout the artwork on the page.

Painted Borders

We will often accent an invitation layout with free hand brushstroke frames. We find this technique the perfect way to add a bit of structure to your design but without losing the softness of your overall aesthetic.

Painted Stripes

Layer upon layer of stripes in various paint mediums create the look of an inspiring sky or perhaps a calm ocean. When dry, these many brushtrokes stand up off the page to simply wow.

Shimmer

Our signature painting technique especially lovely when we’re reproducing highly detailed artwork from its original and want a shimmery touch of detail to catch the eye.

Watercolor Wash

Not all watercolor washes are created equal. This technique was the start of it all and remains a favorite. Whispers of color or bold brushstrokes flow together with a touch of water.
