Behind the Scenes – Vintage Peach and Aqua Wedding Invitations in Pacific Weddings Magazine

When Karen Tran has an idea…I like to run with it.  I first discovered Karen Tran back in 2009 and fell so in love with her look and floral artistry that I designed an invitation to curb the creative overflow!  Karen then found this blog post and got in touch…we’ve since met in person many times and always have so much to chat about – just imagine two artists brainstorming away on all things color, wedding and business!

So when the opportunity to create a hand painted stationery suite to the tune of Karen and her daughter Aileen’s vintage vision, came along, I was ready to dive in.  Aileen got in touch to get me in the spirit of soft, sun-washed hues of mint, peach, gold along with weather worn wood textures.  The shoot location, Korakia Pensione in Palm Springs, was a powerful muse for all design details.

Rich woods, lush greens and a strong appearance of fruits make this tabletop sing with vibrant detail.  Dinner for 6 at this table, yes please!  Our menus were heavily painted in shades of creamy peach, sage and white…all against a flecked stock reminiscent of sand.

A new watercolor painting was the start for this project…A fluffy peach peony, suggestions of textured amaranthus and loads of lacy leaves and greens created a soft and romantic backdrop for all the stationery to come.

I think we can safely say that texture is the key ingredient in this masterpiece of a shoot.  Adore the sugar lace overlay here…  The dessert table feel like a bountiful feast of sweet.

For the invitation I brought in sweeping stripes of watercolor, graceful leaf clusters and a pattern reminiscent of the tile work seen on property.
