Behind the Scenes – Pink Peony Wedding Inspiration on Wedding Chicks

I woke up the morning of this editorial shoot to my phone going insane with messages and buzzing and I knew that could not possibly mean anything good.  It was pouring rain, I mean sheets of unrelenting rain that make it hard to drive, let alone style delicate flowers and prep fragile stationery for photographing in a field of flowers.  I had been dreaming up this project with a group of friends and artists for months.  I had the hand painted gown which was the centerpieces of our story for only one day.  Only one choice remained.  Work on…

momental_designs100So why do I start this post, meant to celebrate this artful project full of flowers and life and all that is lovely, with a dreary tale of the weather that morning?  I’m sharing this story because this project is a sign to me of perseverance and proof that every day has a plan that leads to something worthwhile and good.  Every day is always met with challenge but when you push through and find a way to make the marvelous in life happen despite all else, you can count on something beautiful happening.

Rain?  I don’t see any rain in these shots, just life…And even though the team was wet and cranky and frazzled as we dashed between tents covering our precious work as we moved, we still ended the day feeling accomplished and content.

The centerpieces of this shoot orginally produced for Magnolia Rouge Magazine was my collaborative gown with Chaviano Couture.  The “Kristy” gown features 7 yards of hand painted fabric!  The loft and lush feel of this gown inspired every detail envisioned for this shoot from flowers to stationery.

momental_designs099This Pastel Peony Garden pattern was developed just for this project and insired one of our new iPhone case designs over at Shop Momental!

momental_designs094The stationery suite was decided to feature an ombre of wood finishes!  Cedar, Cherry, Walnut, Curly Maple and Ash wood veneers were woven throughout the suite and of course painted on!  Graceful brushstrokes of pinks, white, sage greens and gold soaked in to the wood just enough to create a vintage, slightly worn finish.

momental_designs096The table, ooooh the table!! Layer upon layer of peonies, unripe raspberry, peach vines and blueberries set amongst soft white and pink toille dinnerware.  I added a touch of Pewter in the stemware and wine goblets too.  La Tavola Linen sent over the most gorgeous satin linen in the perfect shade of dusty blush.

momental_designs087Table numbers on cut glass plates…you bet.  Here the ombre of wood finishes can really be seen in all their glory!

A spin on the classic reception card…A small walnut car was presented in a floral pattern pouch tied up with a petite gift tag handwritten with each guest’s first name.  Nothing beats small, unexpected moments like these in stationery design.  The element of curiosity goes a long way in making a truly personal statement.

The Sweat Peas were blooming that day so we nestled anything we could find in the delicate, twirling vines…

momental_designs091Watercolored Maple menus were my favorite piece…. soft white inks painted atop mimicking the Peony Garden Pattern seen elsewhere.   Need I say more?
