Trend-Sketching NYC Bridal Market 2011 – Carol Hannah

While in NY we had the privilege of popping in on Project Runway designer Carol Hannah, who extended us a gracious invite to her studio for a peek at what she has in the works. While not showing a collection at Bridal Market,  the savvy designer still had quite a few frocks up her tailored sleeves.  Carol Hannah is taking her youthful and feminine aesthetic and translating it into an affordable and effortlessly chic new line for the bride in a DIY mind.  Retaining all the quality, flowing silhouettes and attention to detail you would expect is key but while leaving room to accessorize for a personal touch.   It’s couture for the masses  and we love her all the more for it!  Watch out in the coming weeks as Carol Hannah releases her Online Exclusive Collection!!

Being surrounded by the energy of an emerging collection in her studio space was overflow for this creative mind.  While Jess chatted up and ogled every sweet detail Carol Hannah pulled off the racks I drew every little swirl and bustle that crossed my path.  Layers of gauzy fabrics, shimmering notions and hard torn rosettes and belts made for some interesting sketching fodder.

Carol Hannah’s designs span an array of fantasy ranging from soft and ethereal to metallic and slinky. Details include hand tea-stained silks, delicate deconstructed edges and one-of-a-kind vintage re-designs.  She continues to be one of our favorites and is always one to watch.  Check out how Carol Hannah’s beloved Wentworth Gown inspired an entire concept shoot earlier this year…

Thanks so much to the lovely Carol Hannah for opening her studio to us and indulging our creative spirits on a sunny Saturday! XOXO
