The pop of color really enlivens the look!

The simple, sleek color palette balances the slightly fussy artwork perfectly. I used a paper palette of heavily textured white and shimmery black!

First a peek at the beginning stages of your new watercolor painting! I had such fun with your sample…the new watercolor flows beautifully with your gold and navy palette and creates the ultimate in elegance. Hand painted strokes of gold shimmer throughout draw attention to the lovely watercolor textures.

I have to admit the ring atop a peony, so fun and unexpected!

We love how the watercolor florals and venue illustration coordinate so beautifully! The combination of ivory blooms painted onto champagne stock with eggplant shimmer stocks is stunning!

A Peek into the Studio – Red Hibiscus Wedding, Punchy Swirls and a Classic Timeline
We are off and running with 2011 projects and this week has already been full of some stunning painted paper goodies. First up is Rachel bold and red Hibiscus bloom painted with sheer shimmer inks. Papers choices included a lovely linen textured palm leaf pattern and a shimmery brick red cardstock. The celebrations is unfolding at Zephyr Palace, Villa Caletas in Puerto Rico. Rachel and Spencer’s artwork tag features a stunning view of the ceremony site with the serene waters as a backdrops. Guests should be instantly enchanted by the scene, I know we were while painting the original!

Next up is a swingin’ surprise birthday celebration collection visioned in part by planner and event sylists from Valley and Co. in San Diego, California. Aleah and Nick have partnered with us on several inspiration projects but it was too fun to collaborate on a real celebration this time. The design direction was simple: make it fun, colorful and spirited. I sat down with our Versailles Swirl hand drawn swirls and added lots of pen and ink texture alongside a palette of rich gold, aubergine and persimmon. The painted swirls in gold gave the pieces such life. Kudos to the team for mastering those brushstrokes!

Last but not least are Mollie’s stunning Timeline Save the Dates. Mollie’s color palette is classic; black and white with a touch of champagne but she loves pops of color and wow factor. We especially love the popcorn illustration as it adds a cute sense of whimsy to the look overall.

So what am I up to?
Reflecting a lot on 2010, but planning even more for an amazing 2011.
