Behind the Scenes – Mosaic Damask Hand Painted Invitations in Inside Weddings

When I began designing for Elizabeth, an interior designer in LA, I knew it would be something special.  Never could we imagine that her design would grace the main page of Inside Weddings’ Winter invitation feature.  We began with an inspiration board after Elizabeth mentioned the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills owned restaurant, Villa Blanca as her muse.

Nuage Linens, Villa Blanca, Crete, Hand Painted Invitation, Papers, Bed and Pillow

So dive in for a peek into the production of these stunners.

A custom pattern was in store and the inspiration was a simple mosaic element reminiscent of honeycomb.  The wording, framed in pencil sketched flourish, announced details in style.

Elizabeth hand picked silk lace and sent to our studio for custom upholstery onto each raw silk folio.  In addition to lavish hand painting throughout the mosaic pattern, we added freehand flourish and handwritten names to each folio cover.

We are so grateful to have worked with Elizabeth to bring her interior design inspired vision to life.  Thank you Inside Weddings for sharing her masterpiece!

Behind the Scenes – Winter Welcome Party for Matchbook Magazine

I tried my mod side on for size recently…. so look on and let me know what you think.  Leila, my go to gal at Be Inspired PR challenged me with this low color, high drama project she produced for Matchbook Magazine.  Matchbook is a fabulous lifestyle publication we’ve been admiring for a long time.  Matchbook loves to fill their pages with the chicest of home decor inspiration around.  Leila pulled together a team for one edge of the nation to the other to bring this Winter Party Inspiration to life and boy did we!

A sleek palette of silvers and whites reflected Dolce Designs decor elements but not without a certain warmth.  The look is winter but not stark.  We designed a SKETCHED version of Kamilyn’s logo for a quaint fragrance bar.

“Custom fragrance from our hearts to yours”

Fringe cut dessert cards described every last delectable detail of Cupcakes Couture’s sweets spread.  My signature watercolor stripes in pewter and silver and a smidge of floaty texture.

Paper choice was streamlined to allow the painting technique to shine.  A meticulous application of brushstrokes in various shades, each applied before the last is dried.  A quick tap sent the runny pigment trailing off the page in haphazard style.  A bit of gold spatter to finish…

Menus were mounted on glass and alternated between two distinctively pencil sketched patterns; one inspired by honeycomb the other by lace.

Lastly were the place card mementos adorned with vintage resin medallions.  A cloud of shimmering watercolor was painted around each medallion’s edge.

Cheers to this team I feel lucky to share this project with!  Be sure to check out the full feature in Matchbook Magazine complete with expert party tips from all!

Inspirations – Deco-Subtle Wedding Inspiration

Just off the phone with Danielle and the ideas are spinning.  A subtly Deco vibe infused with the eclectic nature of our Versailles Swirl collection is at hand.  The subdued palette of navy, blush, ivory and silver will play nicely with the blank canvas that is The Green Building in NYC.  Oh,  I am dying to dive in….
