A Peek into the Studio – Sculpted Bloom Painted Paper Wedding Bouquet

I love emails from Aleah of Valley and Co.  Aleah and Nick are a husband/wife event styling and planning duo with a veritable creative waterfall of ideas that always seems to be flowing.  The latest project from this team is a collection of our Signature Painted Paper Bouquets.  The Bride is marrying on New Year’s Day and the look is all about modern glam.  Shimmer and satin finishes, a bit of rhinestone and crisp whites will combine to create a glamorous and sexy affair.

Mom and I are beyond thrilled to dive into this project.  Our Sculpted Bloom bouquets are created as one of a kind art pieces where no two are alike.  Each bloom, painted detail and rhinestone added is mindfully placed just like the stroke of an artist’s brush.  The bouquets are not meant to mimic reality but interpret it.

So what am I up to?

Brewing a big new project for 2011 with Heidi from The  Spitfiregirl Design.

Developing a new collection based on an exciting Artful Flip Book project with Stella!

Working with Jess and Kelley on a detailed stationery suite for Michelle’s desitnation event in Jackson Hole, Wyoming…one of my favorite places on earth BTW.

So fun!

I love the added vibrancy the new fuchsia layer gives!

We created a silhouette of your gate and stylized with a touch of lacy pattern to give us a place to add some hand painted color.  The large, watercolor rose with painted dots mimic the gold and ivory linen shimmer border from Envelopments®.  LOVE this!

I experimented with a slightly oversized Sculpted Bloom to resemble a rose.  I thought an illustration of the Turnip Rose venue could be stunning on your reception card to really tell your story!

Press – Utterly Engaged is Sew in Love!

It has been a dream of mine to have our work included in the innovative force that is the online magazine Utterly Engaged.  Artistic content and creative minds are at the core of this marvel which is only a slight 1 year old.  12 Issue later and Utterly Engaged has marked its place in so many hearts and minds as the trailblazer in new wedding media.  Impeccable content is delivered to brides and industry obsessed alike on a monthly basis, keeping us all brimming with ideas and better for it.  When I received an email from Lucia and then a call from Leila, I knew I was in for some good times.  I wasn’t wrong.

Hearing that a Momental Scupted Bloom would be included in the Anniversary issue of Utterly Engaged was thrilling and frightening to say the least.  I would be working with people I have admired for some time, collaborating on designs and all from far, far away in Pennsylvania!!  The project invovled Carissa from JL Designs who styles events with serious verve and crafts stunning florals like no one’s business.  The direction was to create loose sculpted blooms to ship off to Carissa for inclusion in one of her fresh bouquets.

For fun I sent Carissa a full bouquet of Sculpted Blooms and much to my shcok this lovely was featured on its very own page.  Still..catching..my…breath.  Seriously though, I am excited to see the textural blend of real and paper flowers in various combinations.  It works.  Enough said.

I’ll be back later this week with a behind the scenes look at the creation of these blooms, the inspiration and one bouquet you won’t see in the newest issue but only here! :)

Press – Momental on Merci New York

Aleah from Good Life Events called me one day earlier this year with a lofty idea (aren’t those the best kind?).  A marathon day of six wedding shoots was planned and she wanted me to create all the custom stationery to coordinate.  I was immediately intrigued and knew my creative muscle would be challenged since I only had 2 weeks to make it happen!

The first of the six tabletop shoots was featured recently on the sweet blog, Merci New York.  Chic and thoughtful design details for weddings are this blog’s passion so Aleah and Nick‘s English Style tablescape fit right in.  What I was most surprised by and ultimately in love with was the fact that this tablescape was small in scale.  The mindful decor really packed a punch in terms of visual statement.  No elaborate, 10 seat table need here – intimate, choice decor elements were it.

I decided to create the stationery surrounding my Sculpted Bloom Collection.  A soft, flecked rice paper in the softest shade of pink was the choice.  Painted edges in gold and fuchsia tipped stamens added whimsical personality overall.

Thanks to Style Circle at Style Me Pretty for my travel friendly inspiration board creation!

Lately obsessed with old patterned handkerchiefs I decided to upholster a table number border with a snazzy little number I picked up recently.

A huge thank you to Aleah and Nick for involving me in this project.  Their hard work and determination paid off since this is only the first of a handful of features to result from the marathon shoot.  Check back soon as I share more,  namely a DIY post to help you re-create the table numbers!

And last but certainly not least is Jenny from Llanes Weddings who captured our work.  I just love the graceful light and romantic feel of each shot. Want more?  See the full post here!

Sneak Peek: Sculpted Blooms with Perfect Bound & Daniel Lanton

momental_designs1277

A few weeks ago I had this idea.  Ideas tend to get me in trouble since they usually require a lot of work and come to me so last minute that I am scrambling to make them happen quickly.  That being said though, these last minute ideas usually elicit really exciting results and lead to dream collaborations with my favorite people!

Recently Anne-Marie (editor of Perfect Bound) visioned a fun collaboration for the two of us.  Now I couldn’t stop at just one project for a Saturday afternoon…I went on to plan a photoshoot of my Sculpted Bloom invitations and bouquets and of course asked Anne-Marie to style the whole shoot.  Her eye for fashion and mine for color were the perfect combination.

Daniel Lanton, my friend and fab photographer is always up for my crazy ideas and jumped on board for what turned out to be a crazy Saturday filled with national-park-police-dodging, cars-as dressing room adventures and paint splattered hands!

Each bloom is crafted from watercolor painted papers,  feather thin rice papers, vintage hankies and broaches.

Here I  love the bold red bloom contrasted by the sleek black  silk box.  The woody vines were a great find in Scranton, PA, where we found an old brick building practically cocooned in these vines.  Just gorgeous.

There are so many more images to come but I need to keep them secret for now!

A Peek into the Studio – Sneak Peek at Painted Paper Bouquets

For the past few weeks my Mom and I  have been involved in a special little project.  I had this idea to create bouquets made entirely from hand-painted watercolor paper.  So last weekend we headed out to local markets to find vintage elements to adorn these creations.  I have always been secretly obsessed with old clip on earrings and ladies hankies.  I love the color and romantic detail in these pieces so was thrilled to incorporate them into my designs.

So,  honestly, what do you think?  Stay tuned for more about our progress…
