My Story is Art – Monet and A Field of Poppies
Last week I introduced a new blogging series not so much out of planning but of necessity. Read the post here to learn more about what I will now call the My Story is Art series!
My inbox was very happy this week. Whenever an email comes from Daniel Lanton I am sure to be a happy girl. Daniel recently came out to the studio for a last minute shoot for a very special project you will hear more about at the end of this year. I had this grand idea to re-create on of my favorite Monet paintings, A Field of Poppies. The translation of this epic work of art was not meant to be literal but instead pay homage to the more fun and playful elements of the artist’s vision.
We painted nearly 15 canvases with bold, splashy flowers and filled my favorite vases with loads of red blooms. Of course poppies are not in season so gladiolas and snapdragons were the perfect replacement. Daniel scattered us and the flowers about in the field behind our studio and the rest came to life organically. We all had a blast and let Daniel bring the idea home; the result were imags I will treasure forever.

I created the petal program with a rhinestone buckle detail – so gorgeous!!

I adore this collection! The table number has a lovely profile (skinny and tall). I added the large rhinestone buckle. Each piece features varying painted details for added interest. I created a petite fan program that is sophisticated and functional.

I am not sure how I would even decide but the buckle version is soooo pretty!

This look is all about texture, organic shapes, vibrant pops of color. The two damask patterns could be re-drawn with slimmer, more graceful, sletchy lines, but I do love the feel in general.

Gold Damask, Red Damask, Chandelier Reception Card, Beaulieu Garden, Bride, Paper Swatches, Silk Folio Invitation
I had a blast with this! A new damask illustration was created then painted in shades of red, gold and creamy ivory. The double layer buckle adds a vintage flair and loads of texture and personality. The folio is a rich chocolate but can be made in custom shades of gold like discussed.

Love the drama, the patterns, the red, love it all!

Such a switch from the previous sample but the palette is so sophisticated – LOVE!

The patterned gatefold adds so much drama and texture!

Wow, what a difference!

Oh, so much to consider! I added a punch of fuchsia and a lovely watercolor wash to the red rose… The look is vibrant but remains elegant with the rhinestone buckle closure.

We love the Palm Frons!

Wow! Such a difference!
