Momental on Snippet and Ink!

Anyone planning their day or in the business of weddings has been captivated by the smart inspiration boards of Kathryn at Snippet and Ink. Each day she crafts boards meant to inspire brides, trends and color palettes. Kathryn also features Real Weddings and this week she chose Jenna and John’s Derby themed celebration.
I have to admit I was a bit giddy on Saturday morning when I caught the first glimpse of the post – she chose a lovely shot of Jenna’s Vintage Stamped Tree Invitation and told a so sweet story of the brides most cherished moment of the day – be sure to take a look.
While you are there take a peek at Kelly and Ryan super fun coloring book idea!

Real Weddings Friday – Jenna and John 05.03.2008
In honor of Derby week I thought a post about Jenna and John’s South Carolina wedding would be fitting! Jenna crafted her wedding details with a Derby theme in mind. The ladies wore hats, mint julips were a plenty and as you can see from the photos, no detail went untouched!
The talented Christine Gallagher captured every moment – thanks Christine for access to these amazing photos!

Everything from patterned paper cones hung on mahogany Chivari chairs to the perfect hue of soda bottle refreshment were in visual harmony. One of my favorite details are the vintage urns dripping with lush peonies, orchids, waxflower and more.
Thanks again Jenna and John – it was a blast working with such a creative couple!

Real Weddings Friday – Carrianne and Jeffrey 05.15.2010
I am so inspired by Carrianne and Jeffrey’s wedding to come in 2010, I just had to share some details right away! I often am asked to “just create”, or “run with” and idea in the hopes I will capture a moment or a certain feeling in the watercolor illustrations that put the Momental in Momental Designs. Carrianne called me several weeks ago admitting she “didn’t care much about invitations” until she saw my current projects page. She spoke of the live oak trees present at her much loved reception venue The Ribault Club in Port George, Florida. She wanted her guests (most traveling from out of state) to immediately have sense of southern charm and felt the stately live oak was the perfect imagery. Other than her heartfelt words I had little other direction.
I immediately thought of a much loved storybooks from my childhood, namely The Velveteen Rabbit which for some time I insisted my Dad read to me every night. I recall the soft watercolor illustrations that become so dear and gave me such comfort. I decided that my illustration for Carriane’s wedding invitation should have a similar feeling – one of welcome, comfort, charm, softness and history.

Real Wedding Friday – Rosa and Ryan 10.12.2008
Take a look at this lovely Phoenix wedding – check out those shoes! Rosa’s eye for detail was fantastic and her photographer captured every perfect moment. Read on for more!

I created a suite of illustrations for Rosa’s day. Line drawings in brown ink of Stephonitis, Cabbage roses and Wax Flower were her choice. On each piece sheer pink shimmer ink was added by hand to give a pop of color. I love these pieces against the red roses – stunning. Their table numbers featured photos of their travels with a story of each destination Rosa and
How did your stationery play a role in your wedding?
“The stationery played one of the most important roles in our wedding. I was extremely concerned with the stationery being absolutely perfect! I think that stationery can really reflect style, theme, and tone and it was important for us to set that from the beginning. Although being detail oriented and worrying about the small things usually falls on the bride, all of our guests noticed the detail we put into the stationery. Because I created my invitations and save the dates before I found Momental Designs, guests already had a vision of what our wedding would be like. Then, with Kristy’s designs for my programs, table numbers, and menus, guests were blown away with the beauty and detail of our stationery and how everything came together.”
What was your inspiration for your colors and/or theme?
My inspiration for colors was to have a clean, crisp look with a pop of color. I love chocolate brown and teal, so they went perfectly together. Then, my flowers were hot pink which looked great against the other colors.
Tell us about the one thing you would not change about your wedding, and what is the one thing
you would change if you could?
There are many things that I would not change about my wedding including my color scheme, the attire and of course the stationery! One thing that I would change would be to have more posed photographs with my mom and dad and my bridesmaids.
Who was your photographer and your florist?
Our photographers were amazing! Aimee Cooper and Riley Kimball from A + R Photography. Our flowers for the reception are just simple hot pink roses from Costco! My mom and a friend bought vases at Ikea for $1 each and did the flowers themselves. My bouquets were from Safeway.

I love this shot – it really captures the warmth and joy of the event. Rosa, you look like a star!

Real Weddings Friday – Kelley and Ben 08.23.2008 Part II

As promised I am excited to share more amazing details from Kelley and Ben’s wedding this week! Let me start with the invitations!
Kelley chose a Pocket design in shimmering white. The lacy pattern was hand-pressed in white with raspberry hand-painted blooms. The pocket closure was individually wrapped in sage cardstock and white grosgrain ribbon then finished with a 2 inch Lacy square seal.
Some unique details: the amazing broach detail on Kelley’s gown, Saint Anthony by the Sea Chapel in East Gloucester, MA and the lovely ring shot by Sarah Bastille Photography.
The Momental team created escort cards with alternating tent colors, the shimmering raspberry hand-painted bloom on each was my favorite! The program color palette featured alternating treatment of the tag detail, Lacy pattern and cover.
Kelley’s scrumptious truffle favors were wrapped in olive green silk boxes then tied with raspberry grosgrain and personalized favor tag. The tag here also featured the lacy pattern in shimmering raspberry with a white on shimmer white border detail.
So what is your favorite detail?

regarding the event filled weekend celebration.
very elegant with a hint of thoughtful whimsy. We created simple place cards for each guest. Hints of shimmering stock throughout the collection catches the light beautifully.
The evening sky captured here is so dramatic and the perfect backdrop
for such a spirited and romantic evening.
In Kelley’s Words:
What was your inspiration for your colors and/or theme?
What was the guest reaction to your stationery choices?
I really couldn’t get over how many compliments that I received regarding our wedding stationary items, especially the Save-the-date booklets. Guests were most impressed by how coordinated all of the items were, while each piece possessed a slightly different “tweak” to the master design. It kept them guessing from one event to the next, and they were actually looking forward to seeing what we had in store for them next.
Next week…the wedding and reception, invitations and more!
