Check out Laurabee Studios!
Yesterday I did some early holiday shopping. I visited a show featuring the lovely work of local artisans. I eagerly anticipated the work of Laurabee studios. I purchased the yellow masterpiece below at another show this past August. I fell in love with the amazing detail and floral motifs. I went back yesterday to see what new creations she had to offer.

I thought the smoky violet pendant below was so very current. The moodiness of the piece is immediately alluring. I was then drawn to the pale shades of aqua and vibrant orange of the piece to the right. I love the subtle use of dots as a composition and design element that seems to ground the organic petal pattern.

I think these designs would be a lovely gift for any bridesmaid. Perfect even to compliment the attendants attire at a fun, outdoor event. So, what do you think?

Hand-Painted Business Cards!

About two weeks ago I mentioned my fun new business cards….plastic, platinum finish, just perfect for the Symposium. Well, I was notified that the card would not arrive in time, only about 3 days ago. Now I of course have business cards I could use, but not something fresh and new that REALLY shows off my work.

I decided to create hand-painted business cards since my work is as you know, hand-painted. What took me so long to come up with this idea!!!!

So off I go to Engage 08 with my snazzy cards…hope they’re a hit!

Thanks to my facebook crowd for the encouragement!

Vintage Stamped Tree Collection – A new level of Personalized Invitations

The Vintage Stamped Tree Collection has quickly become a Momental Signature. With a combination of Vintage Stamping, Hand-painted details and completely custom artwork these invites have been sought after by countless brides looking for an invitation with endless customization possibilities.

More and more brides are seeking details for their wedding that not only reflect their style but also their perspective. For example, recently Rebecca called and had just fallen in love with the my Vintage Stamped Trees. She wanted natural papers, loved the idea of hand-painting and to top it off wanted a tandem bicycle leaning against her Vintage Stamped Tree (See more below). This is just one example of how brides today are finding increasingly innovative ways to ensure their “big day” is just that…theirs.

…see what I am talking about:

Momental does Halloween!

Today we worked on nearly 20 sample creations and proofs. By far our favorite of the day is Jessica’s Halloween themed design above. We used shimmering coppers which play perfectly with the oak tree silhouette. Our favorite detail is the shimmering filagree pattern border. The look is dramatic, a bit spooky but ultimately elegant!

Enjoy!

Kissing Profiles – A Sweet Invitation

I created this sweet invitation for a very creative bride marrying in September. She is from France and her fiance from Germany so the language barrier was a bit challenging. However, I am thrilled with the result and grateful for the experience.

Soline, the bride, drew the profiles of herself and her fiance. I then perfected the drawings and combined them with my Signature Lacy Stamping design.

The invitation was printed on a lovely gold shimmer with textured ivory stock inside. The stamping was done in chocolate brown with soft white hand-painted blooms. We finished the look with chocolate satin knot.

This could be a great look for a posh wedding shower too!

Perfect!

Not just paper and paint

One of my favorite projects from this past week was Kelley’s lovely stationery accessories. We designed everything from Rehearsal dinner menus and place cards to guest bag itineraries and welcome tags.

It was such a pleasure to work with this bride over the last year. Kelley is very detailed and precise and always had a clear vision for each piece we designed. She often, though, let me use my creativity to best bring her ideas to life.

It was a bit sad when her order was being packaged with pretty green grosgrain ribbon. I always get a bit sad when my time with each bride is complete. I love what I do….from creating a new illustration to chatting with brides about the perfect shade of sage…I enjoy it all.

Kelley’s hand-stamped menus and seating cards are much more than pretty paper and shimmering inks… For me those pieces are a visual record of an experience, a moment in time, an idea in action and most of all a memory captured forever…

Thanks Kelley for choosing Momental and allowing our details create your moment!

Fun Photo Invite – Humorous elegance I would call it!

I recently met with a local couple who brought me a full mock-up of what they had in mind for the invitation. It was a folded piece with lovely script and a romantic quote on the front. When I opened the card I was pleasantly surprised to see their first grade photograph staring back at me. I thought this was a lovely idea, I’ve seen it done before, but lovely just the same.

I was determined to put my own twist on the idea. How could I make the look elegant and stylish while still heartwarming and humorous. The couple clearly wanted to strike a balance with their design but how could I pull it off without it looking like a craft project?

My solution? – a gorgeous combination of premium shimmer papers, hand-painted artwork accents and a sepia version of their photographs.

Enjoy!
