Inspired Ink – Suspended Orchids
I explore Karen Tran’s blog and website almost daily and each time I visit I notice something new. I fell for her suspended orchid centerpiece creation – the graceful shapes, crisp color and glistening details are just breathtaking. For this week’s Inspired Ink post I created a Cascading Vintage Lacy design in shades of ecru, gray and lush green. I love how the shadows in the glass ornaments echo the crystal glistening on the invitation.

Peacocks, Willows and Eventology – The Collaborative Process
One of the most exciting parts of my design days is when I have the chance to collaborate with other vendors. Recently I created items for 2 events. Randy from Wicked Willow noticed my stationery pieces and the I DO Brunch last month and contacted me to create several items for a 18th Annual Great Chefs’ Dinner in Baltimore. Her short description of the tablescape was all I needed to roll with the design. I chose my peacock feather illustration with hand-painted strokes of copper throughout. Shimmering aqua cardstock was a unexpected but quite savvy choice. Randy created magic with crystal, feathers, orchids, bronze birdcages and shades of aqua. I can imagine a stunning ocean interpretation of this design – white coral anyone?
Eventology o9 was a fabulous event (at the Omni Hotel in Indianapolis) for industry professionals orchestrated by Katasha of K Sherrie and Company. I created custom thank you notes for each attendee featuring a personalized wrap, gray satin pull and gunmetal cardstock pocket presentation. My signature petal bloom was hand-painted with touches of shimmering deep lilac and a tiny rhinestone embellishment. Take a look at this amazing palette of orange, fuchsia and black – wow!

It has been another busy week for the Momental Girls. Pictured here from left to right are a few of our favorites: Phoebe’s hand-painted yellow blooms on gold shimmer cardstock, Amy’s grommet style pocket invitations, Jody’s Petal menus, Misty’s Vintage Lacy Ocean Inspired Tree, Kris’s Posies with taupe brushstrokes and last but not least Regan’s pink shimmer Cherry Blossom day of stationery (love the Burnt Sugar borders on the programs)!

Inspired Ink – A look into the Momental Studio Part II
It is yet another busy day in the studio for the Momental Girls. Everyone was so quiet today – diligently working on Susan’s, Elana’s, Karen and Kirsten’s orders. I just had to liven things up and what a better way than some candid shots of our invitation painting in progress.
A big thanks ladies for making everyday a new adventure and of course for the amazing work we do together!

Inspired Ink – Creating more contrast!

To follow up on an Inspired Ink {Creating some contrast} post from several weeks ago I wanted to share several designs so new the paint is still drying on those orchids! Since creating the first contrast piece for Claire earlier this year brides have been ultra inspired by her rich shimmering paper finishes and lush opaque hand-painted brushstrokes of color.
I am continually inspired by the dramatic contrast Amelia Lyon creates with her photography. This shot lovingly borrowed from her main site has me thinking – dainty African violet blooms or Picasso callas on crisp aqua blue cardstock….hmm I feel another inspired ink coming soon!

Welcome to the studio! My name is Kristy Rice and I work alongside six fantastic friends-artists-designers who help me bring the Momental Experience to Brides all over the world. I love custom wedding invitations, painting, paper and feel blessed to work in my studio each day. Each week I love to share studio happenings, my favorite projects, inspirations, diy tips and real wedding photos!
