We may have finally outdone ourselves with these black and rose gold glam New Year’s Eve Wedding Invitations. The bride’s vision was very clear from the beginning: all black, and all stunning. So that’s what we did! We’ve created so many invites with the Watercolor and Letterpress combination, but each one takes a life of it own because of the unique nature of the materials. Letterpress on it’s own is an art form, and combined with free-flowing watercolor on luxurious cotton papers it really shines. The Haiku Mill’s lush green backdrop is transformed with a modern watercolor style, and accented with a few champagne highlights for a shimmering texture.

What a dramatic first impression when this watercolor wedding invitation is taken out of the envelope… the beautiful, old world Spanish style gates that open to reveal an airy watercolor landscape framed with bright fuchsia blooms. With a venue full of so much historic character, not much needed to be added to make these pieces shine. Lily chose letterpressed text in gray on soft, luxurious cotton cardstock, and accented with Momental touches of shimmer flair. Nothing else could have complimented the scene better. Watercolor and letterpress were meant to be together.

Modern for me as an artist and designer speaks of clean lines, edited details and uncommon materials.  Modern for me isn’t always limited color palettes or minimal textures. {Modern on the contrary is the effortless dance between glimmers of tradition and interpreted techniques.} Perhaps a full painting is whittled down to a single, expressive brushstroke.  In the same vain a modern aesthetic can transform a detailed architectural illustration into an edited silhouette flooded with watercolor moments.
