Fun!

I think sheer shimmer painted dots could be stunning too!

We created a simple leaf wreath with touches of silver, so pretty!

The gate seems to be a perfect addition!
We are really excited about the clean sleek color palette of your save the date. The illustrations add the perfect touch of color!

Cute, Cute, Cute!

It is so exciting to see this all come together!

I think this is really coming along!
The cherry orchard “feel” is really obvious now – so beautiful I think!
I am so excited about your design! I blogged about this invitation style today – take a look!
I went with a navy blue for some contrast to the soft colors in each illustration. I love your story and how it is all coming together on this piece!

The printed layer is done in a very soft pink cardstock with a middle border in shimmery gray pattern. I do love the addition of the clouds. They really communicate the dreamlike quality of the piece!
I love your expressions in this version. I experimented with a side vie but I felt this angle really communicated the emotion of your expressions!
I created a soft, highly stylized logo. The smudgy, smoky effect of the charcoal definitely translates the dreamlike state we discussed. Shimmering papers lend elegance and classic flair overall.
I included a quote that I thought worked well:
Now join hands, and with your hands your hearts.

A Peek into the Studio – Painted Dogwoods and an Enchanted Garden
Wow, it has been a busy few weeks at the studio. The Momental Girls and I are rushing the last orders of 2009 out the door and will be working straight through to the new year to ensure everything is delivered when promised! Personally I have been chatting with many new bride’s and am continually floored by their inspirational ideas. New artwork has been the focus over the last two weeks and my creations have been fun to share on Twitter.
From left: Kristen’s Green Hydrangea, sketchy holly for my Holiday cards and Sarah’s Yosemite Map
Some favorites from the last two weeks: Christine’s Enchated Garden Custom Save the Dates with a crawling vine illustration. The hand-painted details were quite exstensive in shades of white and purple. We just love Erin’s patterned elephants for her wedding in Thailand. Carrianne’s bright pink dogwoods are just stunning! The fuchsia shimmer hand-painting seems to just jump off the page.
So what inspired me this week?
This stunning wedding (including a field of goats) on 100 Layer Cake!
I proclaimed this to be my favorite wedding of the year. My exact comment on Green Wedding Shoes: “This one might just be my favorite wedding of the year. Really – Lush romance meets rustic eclecticism. Thanks for sharing!”

Landscape Illustrations as Invitation Art
“Often while reading a book one feels that the author would have preferred to paint rather than write; one can sense the pleasure he derives from describing a landscape or a person, as if he were painting what he is saying, because deep in his heart he would have preferred to use brushes and colors.” – Pablo Picasso
Several months ago, Tonya contacted me with a request for an invitation whose main focus was the artwork. She literally wanted the artwork to encompass most of the printed space with her wording playing second fiddle to the text.
I immediately loved the idea and ran with it.
Many couples have caught on to the trend and since then Jess and I have been painting watercolor landscapes of locations throughout the country. What most excited me about this new style is the emotion we are able to capture in a landscape. From the passionate red cliffs of Sedona to the magical rolling hills of rural New York , every brushstroke tells a story in color and shape.

And several more…
This Michigan treeline landscape is so full of texture you can easily get lost in the details! The idea that guests really have to look for the wording is fun – enjoying this invitation becomes an experience!
The ariel view in this design captures a sense of granduer, while the color palette is dreamy and romantic.
