A Peek into the Studio – Eclectic and Rustic Wedding Invitations
Remember this eclectic inspiration board? Well Catherine has traversed our design process over the last 2 months and a modern, quirky design was on the painting table this week as a result! The Momental Girls all had a hand (literally) in the project from painting chevron patterns to adhering reception cards to vintage post cards.
Catherine chose a palette of sunny golds, shimmering tans with accents of opaque gray and burgundy.

Early on she fell in love with this ensemble for it’s eclectic mix of landscape sketches and this look for the antique palette of colors. We designed a fun mix of pattern, landscape and bloom artwork and to keep things interesting we introduced bold painting techniques where each brushstroke was obvious against the shimmer stocks.

Gorgeous, textured twine was wrapped over the chevron patterned belly bands….

We collected old postcards, all lovingly used to act as borders for Catherine’s reception cards!

The invitations featured a variety of succulent sketches painted in creamy inks to really show off the shape of each petal. My favorite was gray against Envelopments’ Burnt Sugar shimmer cardstock.

The finished look! Have a look here for a peek at the program design!

So grateful to Catherine for being incredibly creative, open to new ideas and trusting of our design instincts!!

I put my own spin on the Mural Room artwork in addition to a watercolor sketch of the Hotel. The look is earthy, whimsical and elegant all in one.

We were able to keep some of the live oak sketches in the background while keeping the grand oak in the foreground…quite dramatic with the new color approach!
Love the subtle sweetness the dots cardstock adds!
I had such a blast with the illustration for your custom invitation!

I think this might be the one! The painting technique on this crab save the date really pops now!

A Peek into the Studio – Pink Peonies, Red Lotus and a Sherbet Color Palette
2011 has been good to us so far and we are all feeling incredibly blessed at the studio. Having the opportunity to already fulfill some of my intentions shared here recently is pure joy. Michael’s peonies are a painters dream come true. A simple outline sketch on each thank you note was filled with thick, painterly brushstrokes in soft pink, white and sage shimmer inks.

Sara and Eric’s timeline color palette reminds me of sherbet in lime and orange flavors. The white hand painted touches throughout give the look a fresh feel and give focus to the clean lines of each custom illustration.

Maylin’s lotus wedding invitation collection married various patterns from our friends at Envelopments with richly textured artwork and hand painting. The red dots are my favorite detail with each meticulously dropped onto the page by the tiniest of brushes.

So what am I up to?
