Mattern’s Fine Gifts and Furnishings

Yesterday I took a break from the studio and visited a local shop I have always been curious about. I drive by Mattern’s weekly and marvel at the glimpse of funky furniture and decor items I see in the windows. My hunt for the perfect side table finally drew me in.

I walked in to this lovely shop and felt like I had been transported to the shopping mecca I so love in Upstate New York. Beautiful furniture, eclectic accessories and high end toiletries abound right here in Northeast Pennsylvania…

I found this perfect muddy turquoise (my best description) table. My living room is full of reds and ochres but I felt as if it needed a punch of the unexpected – this table was just it! I then of course fell in love with the lamp – couldn’t pass it up!

Maria, the owner of Mattern’s was just wonderful and let me ramble on about my crazy living room. Thanks Maria for the wonderfully fun time!

Oh yes and the pooch is Chewey my crazy pomeranian mix.

Rossetti Memorial Juried Art Exhibit

I have been so swamped this season – I did not even have the chance to post last week. I am really excited however to post today as I recently sponsored an award at a local art show. This show is near and dear to my heart.

I grew up and now reside in Northeast Pa. “Rossetti” is a competition that many local art enthusiasts look forward to every year. As a young art student at Sue Hand’s Imagery in Dallas, PA, I can remember the nervous time surrounding Rossetti judging and the almost unbearable wait to see how my work would fare.
The show however over the years became so much more than a mere competition. It built my confidence as an artist, challenged me technically and gave me a community of artists to call my own.

This year I sponsored the Momental Award for capturing a fleeting moment through art. I am just thrilled with the work chose for the award. You can almost feel the breeze wash over your face as you stare out the window this artist has created.
