An Artsy Vow Renewal Celebration

When it comes to parties, weddings and anything celebratory I am just bursting with ideas. My mind first wanders to ponder all the exciting stationery opportunities that are possible.

You can imagine my excitement when the hubby and I decided to throw a bash celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary next year! Beginning with a few days in Zion National Park and ending with a celebration in PA there are so many details to consider. We decided to renew our vows in Zion; a magical place that holds so much meaning for us both. We feel connected to the landscape and truly peaceful while hiking and painting in the red rock landscape.

Meet Adam – the hubby!

So to make it official and organize my thoughts a bit I created a quick timeline:

I of course plan to blog about every little detail along the way. After 7 years in the wedding biz I have gathered a tremendous amount of inspiration. So many ask me what I would do if I were to plan my wedding again; now I have the chance to answer this question. Now let me say this…I loved every moment of my wedding 10 years ago and really wouldn’t change a thing. I do however recognize that the hubby and I have changed and grown together over the years so I want our renewal celebration to reflect this fact!

The colors we chose, inspired by an impromptu antiquing trip.

Vintage Tableloth Dress via Lottilulu’s, Hay Bale seating via Inspired Events, Yellow Depression Glass 1 and 2, Outdoor Seating, Cool lanterns, Ron Ben-Israel Cake, Vintage Photo Booth, Flowers, Lounging Couple, Soda Bottle Buffet via Project Wedding, Soup Can Centerpieces.

The celebration in PA will mirror the red rock color palette inspired by our love of Zion, pay homage to our rustic roots (both of us having grown up in a rural setting) and will reflect a certain elegant flair.

A Side Project – do I ever stop painting?

I guess I am really passionate about painting, drawing etc. I always laugh when my husband tells me “why take your paints on vacation?, you need to relax!” It is hard to make him understand that I feel most at peace when I am creating/painting something. I have a difficult time when I am too far removed from my brush and watercolor.

That being said I though I would share a little side project I conjured up this week. Amy, my longtime friend and until recently my project/production manager, moved to Maryland. I wanted to do something special in honor of her new, cute apartment. I will be helping her move in this weekend so I thought I would surprise her with a hand-painted kitchen table.

I was inspired by an illustration I created for a couple earlier this year. It is a watercolor tree that was inspired by the book, “The Little Prince”. The tree is full of fun and whimsy and reminded me so much of Amy’s spirit.

So in the midst of a crazy week at the studio without my right hand gal, I am frantically painting this simple little table. The project is helping me feel a little less sad about my far off friend and a little more excited about the new adventure she is about to embark on.

The New Studio – Photos finally

We moved into the new studio on April 26th. It was a whirlwind day. The move had to be completed from beginning to end in one weekend to ensure no downtime over the weeks to follow.

With the help of my family and friends the task went perfectly!

We have been working in the new space for just over one month now and couldn’t be happier!!

Studio Announcement – The painters arrived!

As you know I am in the process of moving into a larger studio space. The process is quite exciting, scary, fun and overwhelming. This past weekend the painters transformed and enlivened the space with a bit of color.

Choosing this subdued shade was a bit tough for me. I am a big lover of color and punch but in the studio soft non relective color is a must. Gobi Dessert from Behr paints was the perfect choice.

The very next day my dad and husband spent their Sunday building furniture and wiring phone and fax lines. I am very lucky to have such a helpful and supportive family.

The move in date is set for the weekend of April 26th…so not too much longer!

Studio Announcement – More Space, Finally!!

For quite some time my studio space has been bursting at the seams…I simply have no more room! Over the last year and a half the studio seems to be getting smaller and smaller, especially when several people are working on a project at one time.

Take a look at the plans for my new space! Of course, these are planning shots and don’t reflect the personality I plan infuse into the space. I am so very lucky to have amazing inlaws who are allowing me to utilize this vacant commercial space. It really is the perfect next step for Momental!

The first shot is of the workroom where all production will take place. The second is the meeting room where I will create artwork and samples and eventually meet with clients.

Check back over the next 2 months as we move in and make these plans a reality!

What I did this Sunday…

When September 1st arrives, as far as my fall loving mind is concerned…it is fall! I absolutely love this time of year and I like my home to reflect this passion. Every year I addto my already color saturated abode, beaded jewel garlands, tasteful ceramic gords, sweet smells of caramel and apple and so on and on!!

Since my living room and kitchen are full of rich reds and ochres it seems I created these rooms just for fall (I didn’t really, but hey if it works go with it). This year I simplified a bit, tried to create a cohesive theme of natural texture wheat sprays and for a twist beaded garlands selectively placed here and there. I also love to keep fresh apples and oranges on the table this time of year. The freshs element says “someone lives here”, to me.

I just took some shots of my new studio! Take a look!

My studio space was becoming very, well lets say industrial and utilitarian. I needed some pretty and some COLOR! I spend at least 40 hours a week in here so I need some visual inspiration in my space!

Thanks to my hubby, Adam for helping me bring it all together. He is such a good guy, always there to lend a hand!
