I heard somewhere the best way to combat the winter blues is to eat fruit and look at fresh flowers.  Well, I certainly have the fresh flower piece covered.  After a dreamy Spring and Summer season filled with cut blooms from my garden everywhere I looked, I was determined to stay inspired through the cold Winter months.  I’ve made friends with my local florist, ordered bouquets for myself when I know select varieties are in stock and most recently attended the Philadelphia Flower Show, coming home with over 6 dozen blooms to play with.  Needless to say, our home has […]

Putting brush to invitation paper again an again multiplied by 100, 200 or 25, whatever the number may be on a given studio day, gives my soul peace and a promise of our continued authenticity in this whirlwind world of easily printed, poorly manufactured, appropriated and remodeled goods.  Kristy Rice – Neon Pink Watercolor Story from Kristy Rice on Vimeo by Birdhouse Productions I first experienced watercolor at about age 5.  Someone gifted me a plastic case full of crayola pans of watercolor pigments.  Somehow I recall being confused and interested at how the hard, colorful material could turn into […]

An excerpt from my post two years ago: “Bossa happens (and thank you Wikipedia for finally giving me a description for this) when all the right moments collide in a design.  Bossa happens when your mind AND your heart are in […]
