Behind the Scenes – Cover Editorial for Eco-Beautiful Weddings Magazine

So I had this idea… Those are the words that get me into trouble time and time again…the good kind of trouble.

After seeing Oprah’s February 2012 cover by chalk artist Dana Tanamachi I just had to find a way to re-interpret the concept in watercolor!  A quick email to Eco-Beautiful Magazine editor, Katie Martin and the project was underway!  The Eco-Beautiful team hosted us in Baltimore to make sure everything went just perfectly and of course so we could hand paint any finishing touches onsite.    We painted 3 murals for the cover editorial and the issue launched last Thursday.  Soooo, have a look at the final choice!

Whimsical wedding cakes with juicy watercolor blooms made the cover!  I just can’t get enough of this bouquet created by Elegance and Simplicity, Inc.

Watercolor on canvas at over 10ft x 6ft took Jess and I 2 days to complete…

Old fashioned ribbon candy, lollipops, petite fours and peppermints set the scene but a modern palette of zingy reds, violet, gold and coral kept things fresh…We left the paint drips behind.

The third backdrop featured paint spatters, a watercolor signature…

First sketched with pencil, we leaned over the massive canvas and watercolor backdrops to hand paint every detail. I’m short so this was tricky!

Love to all of the Eco-Beautiful team for making us feel so welcome and loved! XO
