Handmade custom invitations & stationery

Today’s post is as varied as it’s title.  I’m proud everyday of not only the quality of work we create but also the variety.  Early on my art teacher, Sue Hand encouraged me to experiment with many different mediums and techniques.  Her suggestions stuck and to this day, myself and Jessica (my right hand when it comes to creating art at the studio) are nothing if not versatile. Demetri’s sample is a great example.  Jess can sketch architecture with pinpoint accuracy while I tend to enjoy a more loose interpretation.  For Demetri’s piece Jess sketched his Monterey Museum of Art […]

I had this idea…what if we could capture a painting unfolding on film, what if?  You say or think the words hand painted invitations…cool idea, must be pretty.  BUT to be able to show how the hand painting happens, to witness the simple pencil lines evolve into layers of watercolor substance is an entirely different experience.  I’ve been painting since I was five.  A blank paper in front of me that somehow imagines itself from the flick of my wrist is a joy I am familiar with and still awed by daily.  But how to capture this for all to […]

It’s 10:30 on Friday night as I write this after spending two days preparing for Jess and Brad’s wedding, nearly falling asleep at the keyboard, from the most delicious type of exhaustion there is.  In just 9 short hours, we will be at it again bringing all the last minute details together, so I’ll keep it short.  Good things are happening tomorrow, and I’m proud to be part of it all. Just about two years ago, Jess came to the studio for an invitation artist interview.  She lugged in random messy oil paintings, day of the dead sculptures and exquisite […]

Jillian McGrath Photography It is hard to believe our crazy, creative Momental Girl Jess is getting hitched in just 3 days!  The ring was on her finger in December and now only a few short months later, she and Brad have assembled the vision and verve to pull off an epic affair.  I don’t throw around the word epic much, I think it is far too overused.   However epic here is appropriate because these two have stuck to their vision, stayed true to themselves and crafted a smashing event on a dime.  They paid attention to whats most important and […]

The story of this project started three years ago…which seems to me like forever ago.  I decided to orchestrate my very first inspiration shoot.  A carefully chosen team and venue later, we were in full swing carefully crafting the artful table you may have seen on the What Junebug Loves blog yesterday.    There are a few reasons why I’ve waited this long to share the shoot, the only important one being I wanted this project to have a perfect home.  It finally does. Three years ago, art and watercolor textures were just beginning to become wedding decor detail.  In 2009, […]
