The softer more romantic feel here is just lovely and really helps the hydrangea really pop!

Oh, did we have fun with your sample!  The peach and lilac palette is quite alluring especially with the warmth of gold added!  Kelley, is quite taken with your sample, hydrangeas are her favorite!

A Peek into the Studio – Red Rose Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Here at the Momental Studio we are all about experimentation, trying something new and just diving into projects to see where they take us!  A while back the lovely Saakshi contacted us.  She loved our lush style, patterns and sense of color.  She wasn’t exactly sure what that meant in terms of a design for her wedding but was open to our advice and vision.  We began with our classic rose illustrations combined with our newest lacy leaves pattern inside.  Washes of pink watercolor against champagne cardstock and touches of bold painted flourishes throughout were a design element present from the very beginning.  Unsure of exact palettes, Saakshi requested a variety of paper choices to consider ranging from moody black to vibrant fuchsia.

Saakshi requested an increasingly bold use of color and a very obvious hand painted look for her invitations, which made us even more excited to see her design unfold.  The final choice was a letterpress invitation painted with heavy, juicy strokes of magenta and red ink.

Envelopments® brown and navy paisley cardstock paired beautifully with Jess’s painstakingly painted roses.  I just love the character of each stroke – so graceful yet lively.

After the letterpress was complete we went right to work adding gold hand painting to the Genesha, pink watercolor washes to each rose, magenta painted petals amongst the lacy leaves pattern and gold rose steams and leaves.  This collection is by far our most heavily painted wedding invitation to date and we loved every minute!

Saakshi included a fun Mehndi invitation with her wedding invite collection.  The gold and paisley borders visually tied to the wedding invitation but the green vintage lace pattern with cobalt painted flowers gave this piece a personality all its own.

Thank you Saakshi for trusting our vision and having such a brave sense of color and style.  We loved working with you!

The addition of pink pattern really adds a lovely richness!

The introduction of black calms the previous fussiness and definitely allows the more limited us of color to really pop.  The neutral paisley on the invite contrasts nicely with the green paisley on your tag.

This look is much more lush and full but still very vibrant.  The hand painted details are exstensive to include painted dots throughout to mimic the look of draped beadwork!

This shower invitation is so fun!  I really wanted to tell a story of growth, family and fun.  I incorporated the bird family, letter block, the pup and a branchy tree.  Aqua plays a smaller role in the color palette but really pops, I think!

A Momental Celebration!

This past Friday the Momental Girls and I went out on the town.  I feel very strongly about my girls and am grateful for their talent, dedication and passion at the studio everyday.  Any triumphs that occur are a direct result of this talented group of ladies and I felt it was time to honor them.    Dinner at a local favorite, Rustic Kitchen was the destination but of course the night needed to be filled with meaningful details transforming a simple dinner into a heartfelt gift of thanks.

Each girl received a special, hand painted note from me featuring a recent artwork favorite.

The room was exquisite.  Rich, dark woods and a warm color palette made the evening that much more intimate and inviting.  Flowers by good friend Dorian of Central Park Flowers blew me away.  Peach roses, white rununculus, pussy willow and parrot tulips were sculpted together in a short glass square.  The mix of textures and crawling lines gave an edgy feel to the table that balanced the rustic charm of the room perfectly.

Caroline of Paloma’s Nest graciously created a custom piece for each girl and did so last minute during her busy website launch.  We love you Caroline, thank you!  I chose the words, “Each day with you is a joy.” This seemed fitting since the Momental Girls are not simply employees but instead partners in design and friends that fill each day with laughter.  Working at the studio certainly is a roller coaster ride, where each day brings new challenges but it is a joy to be surrounded by people who care.

The black vs. navy is much more dramatic and unexpected.

momental_designs746

It is as if hydrangeas were just made to stand aside rhinestones!  The look is artistic and rich without being too over the top with color or pattern.  The hand-painted details really pop in person.
