Inspired Ink – Cherry Blossoms, Ocean Waves and Pearl Posies!

It has been another busy week for the Momental Girls. Pictured here from left to right are a few of our favorites: Phoebe’s hand-painted yellow blooms on gold shimmer cardstock, Amy’s grommet style pocket invitations, Jody’s Petal menus, Misty’s Vintage Lacy Ocean Inspired Tree, Kris’s Posies with taupe brushstrokes and last but not least Regan’s pink shimmer Cherry Blossom day of stationery (love the Burnt Sugar borders on the programs)!

Well Said – The Notebook

I had an hour long chat with Amber late last week. She chose the Vintage Stamped Tree invitation after seeing our photo in The Knot, but had quite a different take on the concept…second to her savvy color palette and whimsical sensibilities is her inspiration for the invitation. The quote from the notebook is long – but crafts a lovely image in the mind…

“I learned what is obvious to a child. That life is simply a collection of little lives, each lived one day at a time. That each day should be spent finding beauty in flowers and poetry and talking to animals. That a day spent with dreaming and sunsets and refreshing breezes cannot be bettered. But most of all, I learned that life is about sitting on benches next to ancient creeks with my hand on her knee and sometimes, on good days, for falling in love.”

The invitation design has now taken a different path than what you see here. I am planning to create an illustrated world living under and around Amber’s tree complete with a babbling brook, squirrels, dragonflies and a few more surprises. One detail is for sure – this invitation will tell a story, a visual story that will speak straight to the heart.

A Peek into the Studio – Louisa’s lovely blooms

Photobucket

This morning Jaime is packing up Louisa’s gorgeous day of stationery for arrival in the UK on Wednesday (thank heaven’s for Worldwide Express Shipping). I have been working with Louisa for over a year; created her garden style save the dates and white peony invitations. When it came time to craft her menu, table names and seating plan Louisa was just in love with my Sculpted Blooms. After all, her tables are named after flower markets from all over the world (love this idea)! I am a fan of bold color, as you know, but this soft palette of sage, ivory and navy has it’s own boldly elegant sense that just thrills me!

I’m taking the pledge!

Photobucket

Will you take the pledge? I did! The Wedding Pledge created by BrideTide.com asks us to “publish a blog post on Tuesday 21st April about a person in the wedding industry whom I admire”!

Since I cannot pick just one person I have decided to post about 5 wedding industry creatives who inspire me! I have narrowed down my choices to include the following areas:
1. Fellow stationery designer 2. Business advisor 3. Regional (Northeast PA) wedding professional 4. Wedding Planner 5. Photographer

Check out It’s a Jaime Thing to see her fun twist on the pledge – such a great idea!

Kristy Says take a moment and enjoy the ride.

I woke up this morning to see a dreary day outside my bedroom window. The clouds were thick and the air was crisp. I finished working very late yesterday evening, slept for a few hours and embarked on my day early. The studio was quiet and provided instant comfort from the cold. My studio, a place where I spend more time in, than my living room is often such a place of comfort and today was no different. I flipped the lights on, sat at my desk and proceeded to emails. I made a few early morning calls, had a nice chat with a paper vendor and decided to treat the girls to lunch. I made another call that proved to be more difficult that enjoyable and quickly the morning took a seemingly bad turn. When the difficult phone call dust cleared and I had a moment to collect my thoughts and calm my mind I went back to email, planning and very soon was laughing along with the girls and seeing a much brighter afternoon ahead.

I am sharing with you the mundane details of my day as a small reminder to stop and enjoy the tiniest details of your day because it is often in those moments you can find much joy, calm and laughter…enough to carry you through difficult calls, looming deadlines and towering responsibilities. SO thank you Momental Girls for making me laugh, rising to the challenges we face everyday and for sharing this lovely space we call “the studio”.

A Peek into the Studio – Lizards and The Office,

It has been another crazy day in the studio! The morning started off with an email from a planner friend asking me to join her in submitting materials to possibly be used in an episode of NBC’s show The Office. I put together a variety of invites created for brides in Scranton, PA and surrounding areas plus a custom designed piece made just for “Pam and Jim”!

We also shipped several more orders today. Alex’s lovely Lacy invites going to the UK and Sara’s Vintage Stamped Tree with a lizard and cat, yes, repeat, a lizard and cat!!
